The wifag//polytype Group, Swiss machinery specialists for printing, coating and finishing processes, has recently welcomed about 50 partners and customers to an open house at the company headquarters in Fribourg. A highlight of the event was the presentation of the new Techma 4 pilot line. This digital inkjet printing machine can print water-based inks on plastic films, aluminium and paper-based substrates. The new development boasts printing speeds of up to 100m/min at a maximum printing width of 670mm.

“With this line we can offer completely new and unique possibilities for tests in our technology centre,” says Roger Ineichen, director of the Digital Competence Center at wifag//polytype. “Digital print and coating technology can complement each other and create surplus values for our customers.”

Moreover, Jörgen Karlsson, CEO of the company group, announced the rebranding of WIFAG Maschinenfabrik AG, which is specialised in newspaper and book printing, into WIFAG-Polytype Technologies AG. The new name is reported to unite all competences in the fields of print, coating and finishing. The Polytype Converting AG, currently a subsidiary of the company group, is also bound to become a part of WIFAG-Polytype Technologies AG early in 2015.
